Borax Decahydrate (also known as “10 mol Borax”) is a white, odorless crystalline granular or powder product. It is mildly alkaline by nature. As a result, it is commonly used as a buffering salt. Compared to Etibor 48 (Borax Pentahyrdate), which has a similar chemical structure, Borax Decahydrate has a lower Boron content per unit mass, a higher ratio of bound water and is more hygroscopic. It dissolves in water more easily than most other boron products.
Typical properties of Borax Decahydrate:
|DRY SIEVE ANALYSIS|
|Retention on 1.00 mm or +18 mesh||1.6%|
|Through 0.063 mm or – 230 mesh||3.0%|
Government registration or certification may be required for particular applications in certain countries.
